Patient Care Technician – Inpatient Rehab Unit

Sentara Health•Virginia Beach, VA
•$19 - $27•Onsite

About The Position

Sentara is hiring a Patient Care Technician to work on the Inpatient Rehab Unit at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital. The 8-bed unit provides care to patients who need additional rehabilitation for approximately 2–3 weeks before they are independent enough to return home, but do not require a skilled nursing facility. The patient population includes people recovering from stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, and other orthopedic conditions requiring continued therapy after hospital medical clearance. The team works closely with physical, occupational, and speech therapy teams and supports patients through their recovery and discharge home. Patient Care Technicians are unlicensed staff who work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to implement delegated aspects of nursing care. They provide patient care, support admissions and discharges, follow patient safety practices, observe patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions, and report changes to the nurse. This is a FLEXI, as-needed position with rotating shifts.
