The Patient Care Technician provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and plan of care under the direction of area leadership, RN or licensed independent practitioner. This role involves providing safe and direct care to patients in their assigned work location, monitoring their conditions, and providing updates to the healthcare team. The PCT will deliver direct and indirect care to patients to meet their comfort, personal hygiene, and safety needs, in accordance with nursing and medical plans of care and UVA Health policy. Additionally, the PCT is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and stocked environment, managing supplies and equipment to promote quality patient care outcomes, and contributing to the patient experience by adhering to safety goals and identifying patients accurately. The role also includes identifying and reporting physical and mental responses posing harm to the Registered Nurse, obtaining and recording patient information, and collecting specimens for diagnostic tests. Attending mandatory in-services and training, ensuring patient safety, and demonstrating ASPIRE Values and teamwork are also key aspects of this position.
