About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) will work in the Telemetry Department at Texas Health Kaufman, a 23-bed Med-Surg/Telemetry unit. This role offers self-scheduling for work/life balance and opportunities for educational and career growth. The department has a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and an engaged leadership team. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Kaufman is an 81-bed hospital committed to providing compassionate, high-quality care to the surrounding communities. It offers a wide range of services and is Joint Commission-certified and recognized by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) as a Pathway to Excellence hospital.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent is required
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program. Upon Hire is required
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) Upon Hire is required
  • Other Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program Upon Hire is required
  • Other 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Upon Hire is required
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly is required
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days is required
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 Year of hospital PCT experience is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to patient according to plan of care.
  • Documents accurately and appropriately.
  • Anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet those needs and rounds as appropriate.
  • Uses Professional Practice Model philosophy to work in partnership with patients, families, physicians, peers and all other disciplines.
  • Maintains and enhances patient care skills.
