Patient Care Technician - Cardiac Neuro (PCT)
About The Position
As a Patient Care Technician on the Cardiac Neuro Unit, you’ll support nurses in caring for cardiac, neuro, medical-surgical, and ICU stepdown patients who require close monitoring. You’ll assist with hygiene, mobility, vital signs, documentation, and compassionate bedside care, including support for patients nearing the end of life. Attention to detail and a steady presence help ensure safe, high-quality care. The 19-bed Cardiac Neuro Unit is a blended-scope unit caring for cardiac, neuro, and ICU stepdown patients, with eight beds designated for stepdown. The team cares for complex patients requiring close monitoring and emphasizes teamwork and safe, high-quality care. The role provides exposure to bodily fluids and sensitive patient situations.
Requirements
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six months of hire.
- Completion of required PCT classes for the unit.
- Ability to safely lift or move up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Exposure to bodily fluids and sensitive patient situations.
Nice To Haves
- High school diploma or GED is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Assist with bathing, oral care, toileting, and linens.
- Support safe mobility, repositioning, and transfers.
- Monitor and record vital signs.
- Document patient information accurately.
- Support nurses in providing bedside care, including care for patients nearing the end of life.
