About The Position

Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, and home to Baystate Medical Center (BMC), is looking for a Full Time Patient Care Technician to join our Intercare team in Springfield, MA. This is a full-time position with 36 hours per week, working from 7am to 7:30pm, with rotating weekends and holidays. The role is on Daly 6B – Medical Intercare Unit, a dedicated, close-knit team with engaged leadership and strong clinical expertise. The unit has 42 total beds (21 intercare and 21 acute care) serving a broad medical population, and offers excellent nurse-to-patient ratios and strong interdisciplinary support. Patient Care Technicians (PCT) play a hands-on role in delivering compassionate, high-quality care alongside our nursing team. Under the supervision of an RN, you'll assist with direct patient care, including hygiene, mobility, and vital sign monitoring. PCT’s perform a range of clinical tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, specimen collection, and Point of Care testing. This role also includes assisting with procedures, patient transport, equipment management, and supporting emergency response protocols. Strong communication, teamwork, and a commitment to patient safety are essential.

Requirements

  • BLS CPR Certification through American Heart Association, required (for all levels).
  • PCT training or CNA training, preferred (Level I).
  • High School diploma or GED (Level II, III, IV).
  • At least one year of patient care experience (Level II).
  • Three or more years of patient care experience OR at least one year as a level II PCT at Baystate Health (Level III).
  • 4 or more years of Acute or specialty-specific care setting experience OR at least one year as a level III PCT at Baystate Health (Level IV).
  • Non-Graduate education (Required).

Nice To Haves
