About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a trained member of the unit based team who supports the on-going delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary Patient Management Team. The PCT works under the direct supervision of the R.N. and performs tasks and duties which do not require a license, professional judgment or intervention. The PCT must pass the required competencies. The PCT works within the Department of Nursing standards. The PCT adheres to UAMS clinical programs, policies, procedures and standards and guest care guidelines.

Requirements

  • High School, GED or formal educational equivalent.
  • Health Care Experience.
  • Patient Care Experience.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant or Military Corpsman.
  • Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethics and accountability.
  • Successful completion of patient care technician course is required within three (3) months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR Certified/Licensed.
  • Experience in an ambulatory care setting

Responsibilities

  • Takes and records vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse and temperature.
  • Assists with admitting, transferring, and discharging patients.
  • Transports patients to exam rooms or other areas safely.
  • Helps clinic flow move efficiently.
  • Provides basic guidance and support to patients and families.
  • Answers questions or direct visitors within the Women’s Center.
  • Maintains a clean and organized care environment.
  • Follows all UAMS policies, safety standards, and procedures
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
