Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Burn Trauma unit. This is a Part Time, Night Shift (12-hour shift) position. Hours: 7:00pm to 7:00am - Two 12-hour shifts (24 hours per week), with rotating weekends. The Burn Trauma unit is a 34-bed mixed Intermediate care and medical/surgical unit. There are 17 beds for stepdown/intermediate level of care, serving neurosurgery, trauma, burns, and orthopedic trauma patients. Intermediate care patients are received from both the Burn/Trauma ICU and the Neurosurgical ICU. Additionally, there are 17 beds for medical/surgical level of care for neurosurgical, trauma, burns, orthopedic trauma, and bariatric weight loss patients. The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports daily living activities, monitors vital signs, assists with mobility and ambulation, performs phlebotomy, point of care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal. They comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the RN. The PCT observes patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions, documents observations accurately and timely, and reports any changes to the nurse or medical staff.
