About The Position

UPMC is seeking a full-time Patient Care Technician to join its 6B Unit. The role requires availability for rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays. The position offers a career ladder from Nursing Assistant to Patient Care Technician - Lead. Starting pay for Nursing Assistants is $19.80 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Meet at least one of the following: one year of general healthcare experience; six months of experience as a UPMC Nursing Assistant/CNA with PCT competency achieved within 120 days of hire, transfer, or promotion; enrollment in a nursing program with at least one clinical rotation completed; or a bachelor's degree in a health sciences field.
• CPR certification based on AHA standards, including didactic instruction and a skills demonstration, within 30 days of hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Act 31, 33, 34, and 73 clearances, with renewal.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living and provide basic patient care.
• Perform point-of-care testing and take vital signs.
• Monitor telemetry.
• Collect specimens.
• Depending on department needs, perform advanced skills such as phlebotomy, IV removal, and EKGs.
