About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs basic patient care services and supports activities within ambulatory services. PCTs are multi-skilled to provide expanded services under the direct supervision of a licensed clinical professional. In the Pediatric Clinic, the role supports patient-centered care in a collaborative team environment serving patients from adolescence through geriatrics.

Requirements

High school graduation or GED is preferred but not required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers is required, or must be obtained within the first 60 days of employment.
Obtain and maintain required department-specific competencies and certifications.
If working in North Dakota and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, register as a Nursing Assistant through the North Dakota Department of Health within four months of initial employment.

Nice To Haves

At least six months of experience preferred.
Clinic-setting experience preferred.
Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment and supplies preferred.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform patient measurements and screenings, including height, weight, blood pressure, visual acuity, and color vision screening.
Conduct drug screens and point-of-care urinalysis.
Perform reception and clerical tasks.
Use age-related patient care knowledge and cultural awareness to address patients’ physical and psychological needs.
Prepare patient treatment areas and medical equipment for use; clean equipment and dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy.
Clean and maintain patient care areas and treatment rooms.
Monitor medical inventory stock and restock or reorder as needed.
Work patient registries and identify opportunities to improve patient care.
Work independently and collaboratively while maintaining strong interpersonal skills amid multiple distractions.
