About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Cardiac PCU position at Texas Health Southwest is a Full-Time Days role, requiring 36 hours per week. The role involves providing direct patient care and assistance based on a defined plan of care and patient preferences. Responsibilities include collecting and reporting patient data, supporting admission, transfer, and discharge processes, and performing technical procedures safely. The PCT collaborates with nurses to adapt care for diverse populations, maintains a clean and safe environment, and demonstrates teamwork and effective communication. The position also involves participation in process improvement, adherence to safety goals, and patient advocacy. Texas Health Southwest is a 261-bed, full-service hospital serving the Fort Worth community, with specialties in surgical services, orthopedics, imaging, and adult critical care. It holds Magnet designation and multiple other recognitions for quality of care and patient experience.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent Required.
  • CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency Required.
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire. Upon Hire Required Or
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) Upon Hire Required Or
  • Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program Upon Hire Required Or
  • 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Upon Hire Required And
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days Required.
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
