About The Position

A Patient Care Tech assists in the direct care & management of patients with medical issues as directed by the treatment team. Assists with unit programming to facilitate the carryover of therapy issues, leisure activities, & activities of daily living within the functional ability of patients & with consideration for the patient’s level of growth & development. Texas NeuroRehab Center is a specialized treatment facility located ten minutes from downtown Austin on 67 wooded acres. Originally a cattle ranch, the land was purchased in 1943 as part of The Brown Schools and has operated as a medical rehabilitation and behavioral healthcare facility for 80 years. Today, Texas NeuroRehab Center provides complex medical and brain and spinal cord injury rehab for ages 13 years and older and neuropsychiatric treatment for youth. The capabilities of the facility as a whole allow for integrated and specialized care for children, adolescents and adults facing difficult challenges. Texas NeuroRehab Center is internationally known for improving the quality of life for many children; adolescents and adults, and it will continue to provide innovative approaches to neurobehavioral healthcare.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent
Current CPR certification
No minimum experience required
Sustain physical activity and remain on feet throughout scheduled shift.
Lifting requirements are 50 lbs
SAMA training is required.

Nice To Haves

Prefer bachelor's degree or college courses in health care, mental health, recreational therapy, education, or human growth and development.
Prefer one year's experience as a nurse's aide, mental health aide, psych aide, or the equivalent in a rehabilitation, psychiatric, or similar setting.
