About The Position
The Patient Care Technician works in the ICU under the supervision of a registered nurse to deliver patient care and support the patient-specific care plan. The role includes completing delegated clinical and personal-care tasks, contributing to the effective functioning of the patient care unit, and promoting safety and a high-quality patient experience. This is a full-time position in Highland Park, Illinois, scheduled for 36 hours per week from 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. on the night shift, with rotating weekends and no required travel.
Requirements
- Must be eligible to work in the United States.
- Current BLS certification for Healthcare Provider issued by the American Heart Association is required.
Nice To Haves
- Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (C.N.A.) training course.
- Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical care.
- One year of customer service experience.
- Prior nursing assistant experience.
Responsibilities
- Work under the supervision of a registered nurse to deliver patient care.
- Assist with vital signs, including manual blood pressure, and 12-lead EKGs.
- Assist with bladder ultrasounds, Foley catheter and IV adapter removal, and sterile specimen collection.
- Provide bathing, bed care, ambulation, turning, hourly rounding, blood glucose checks, and feeding.
- Assist with admitting patients to rooms and preparing patients for discharge.
- Perform other duties delegated by the registered nurse.
- Assist with implementation of patient-specific care plans.
- Participate in activities essential to the functioning of the patient care unit.
