About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) - Ortho/Plastics position at Texas Health Fort Worth is a full-time role focused on providing direct patient care and assistance. The PCT will support the plan of care, collect and report patient data, and perform technical procedures. This role involves collaborating with nurses to adapt care for diverse populations, maintaining a safe environment, and demonstrating teamwork. The position is located at Texas Health Fort Worth, an 851-bed Magnet-designated hospital serving the Fort Worth community since 1930, offering advanced care in various specialties. The Ortho/Plastics unit is a 36-bed unit providing care to post-surgical patients with conditions such as hip fractures, chest tubes, trachs, pelvic and femur fractures, and those undergoing ortho and plastic surgeries, flaps, graphs, and reconstructive plastic procedures. The facility is a Level I Trauma Center and a MAGNET facility.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire.
  • EMT - Emergency Medical Technician
  • Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) Upon Hire
  • Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program Upon Hire
  • 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification. Upon Hire
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.
