About The Position
The Patient Care Technician on the P10 Surgical Oncology unit at MD Anderson Cancer Center provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse and directly impacts patient comfort and outcome of care. P10 Surgical/Oncology is a specialized inpatient unit providing care for surgical oncology patients, including those undergoing complex cancer-related procedures. Nurses on this unit deliver pre- and post-operative care, manage pain and complications, and provide education and emotional support to patients and families.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.

- CNA certification
- Hands-on patient care experience
- One year experience in an acute care hospital setting as a Nursing Assistant.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).
Responsibilities
- Provides patient care services as assigned by a registered nurse.
- Impacts patient comfort and outcome of care.
- Acts as member of a multidisciplinary team that identifies and addresses patient care needs.
- Assists in completion of activities of daily living, mobilization, admit/discharge and obtaining vital signs.
- Updates and retrieves patient information.
- Ensures patient environment is maintained in a clean, safe and orderly manner.
- Acts as part of an assigned care team.
- Other duties as assigned.
