About The Position

Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is hiring a Full Time Patient Care Technician - PRE-OP/PACU! This is a Full Time position with a Rotating work shift. The Patient Care Tech (PCT) will work in the Preop/PACU department at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge, VA. The Emergency Department at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is a 37-bed facility that sees a wide range of acute and emergent diagnoses. Recently designated as a Level III Trauma Center, it sees a multitude of traumatic injuries that require emergent stabilization. It is also a certified Primary Stroke Center and has received the Get With the Guidelines Gold Plus Award for Stroke Care. The department prides itself on being able to care for patients of all ages, specializing in respiratory, cardiac, septic, and behavioral health. This role is ideal for someone excited about working in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment with great teammates.

Requirements

  • HS - High School Grad or Equivalent (REQUIRED)
  • One of the following programs is acceptable for education: Sentara Care Partner Certification Program, successful completion of the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), National Patient Care Technician (NCPCT), completion of US Navy Hospital Corps School, Emergency Services to include EMR, EMS, EMT, AEMT and Paramedic, or current student enrolled in a clinical program having completed at least one semester of a (RN, LPN, RT or PT) or current work experience within last three years as a PCT or Nursing Assistant.
  • AHA BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
  • One year of health care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in the Preop/PACU setting.
  • Assist with patient stabilization in a Level III Trauma Center.
  • Care for pediatric to geriatric patients.
  • Specialize in respiratory, cardiac, septic, and behavioral health care.
  • Work in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment.
