About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT), across all hospital units and departments including the Float/Flex Pool, operates under the supervision of the charge nurse, clinical manager, and/or director. The PCT's primary responsibilities include assisting with patient care, documentation, and supply management, ensuring the unit is well-supplied, clean, and organized. In some roles, the PCT may also perform office assistant duties such as answering telephones, addressing patient and visitor inquiries within their scope, and performing data entry and collection. Specifically, PCTs in the discharge unit assist discharged patients, coordinate discharge logistics, and help patients access resources and health services. It is noted that PCTs in the Labor Delivery and Post Partum Breastfeeding Center do not provide direct patient care. All PCTs adhere to Northern Arizona Healthcare's policies and procedures, performing or assisting with procedures within their scope of practice and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team. They may care for patients across all age groups: infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. The Float/Flex Pool PCT has additional duties, including the potential to work on any hospital unit needing assistance, changing departments during a shift, or serving as a Patient Safety Attendant (PSA) if required, which would involve ceasing PCT duties to provide 1:1 observation and completing PSA documentation. Call duty is required for the Float/Flex Pool PCT. This position is strictly on-site.
