About The Position

Texas Health Fort Worth is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for its Cardiac PCU. This role is based at the Texas Health Fort Worth hospital located at 1301 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104. Texas Health Fort Worth is an 851-bed, Magnet-designated, full-service hospital established in 1930, providing advanced care in various specialties including cardiovascular services, high-risk obstetrics, gynecology, neurosciences, orthopedics, and emergency medicine. The hospital also features certified programs in Advanced Hip and Knee Replacement, Brain Tumor Treatment, Comprehensive Spine Program, Advanced Palliative Care, and a kidney transplant program. It is Joint Commission-certified as a Comprehensive Cardiac Center, a Comprehensive Stroke Center, and a Level I Trauma Center. The PCT will be responsible for providing patient care, collecting and reporting patient data, performing technical procedures, collaborating with nurses, maintaining a safe environment, demonstrating teamwork, and participating in process improvement.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Other - CLIAFE Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency.
  • PCT Training Program TX CNA, NHA, NAHP, NCCT, accredited community college program or a THR approved program. Not required to maintain certification when applicable after hire. Upon Hire Or EMT - Emergency Medical Technician Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) Upon Hire Or Other Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program Upon Hire Or Other 1 year of applicable experience in lieu of an active and approved certification.   • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually 90 Days.
  • Possesses organizational skills to function in a fast-paced work environment, positive interpersonal skills, and good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Nursing Students who do not complete course of study in nursing but having completed their Fundamentals Training and EMTs who do not formally retain their EMT status may continue in role if they have consistently demonstrated skills in their PCT position.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient care and assistance based on the plan of care and patient/family preferences.
  • Collects and reports patient data, supports admission, transfer, and discharge processes.
  • Performs technical procedures safely and documents care accurately.
  • Collaborates with nurses to adapt care for diverse populations and cultural needs.
  • Maintains a clean, safe environment and proactively meets patient and visitor needs.
  • Demonstrates teamwork, flexibility, and effective communication across disciplines.
  • Participates in process improvement, adheres to safety goals, and advocates for patients.
