About The Position

This is a part-time, dayshift position for a Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) specializing in Wound Care. The role involves direct patient interaction, assisting nursing staff, performing clerical duties, and ensuring patient safety and comfort. The position requires effective use of electronic health records and maintaining unit supplies. The employee will adhere to established standards of nursing care and charge procedures.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent within one year from date of hire.
  • EMT, Certified Nursing or Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience in data entry or typing preferred.
  • Previous clerical experience preferred.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • Qualified to work with infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients through education, experience, and/or training.
  • Fluent knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Current BLS Healthcare Provider card.

Nice To Haves

  • EMT, Certified Nursing or Medical Assistant preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and rooms patients, takes vital signs and blood glucose as needed.
  • Assists nurses in wound care procedures.
  • Assists in the admission process.
  • Reports patient observations, changes, and reactions to appropriate personnel.
  • Performs clerical duties to coordinate unit operations and patient care, including tracking work orders and assisting the office coordinator.
  • Answers phones and interacts with ancillary departments.
  • Assists in transferring patients to and from the hospital entrance.
  • Utilizes Meditech electronic health record and Wound Expert EMR.
  • Collects and enters patient information accurately.
  • Focuses on patient safety through fall prevention.
  • Addresses patient comfort levels and expresses concern for patient and family satisfaction.
  • Maintains unit and nursing station supplies, including completing requisitions and managing inventory for restocking.
  • Maintains standards of nursing care within the guidelines of the nursing department.
  • Follows established charge procedures for patient charge items.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
