About The Position

This is a part-time, dayshift position for a Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) specializing in Wound Care. The role involves direct patient interaction, assisting nurses with wound care, performing clerical duties, and ensuring patient safety and satisfaction. The position requires effective use of electronic health records and EMR systems, as well as maintaining unit supplies and inventory.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent within one year from date of hire.
  • EMT, Certified Nursing or Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Experience in data entry or typing preferred.
  • Previous clerical experience preferred.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • Through education, experience, and/or training, the individual is qualified to work with infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Fluent knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Current BLS Healthcare Provider card.

Nice To Haves

  • EMT, Certified Nursing or Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Experience in data entry or typing preferred.
  • Previous clerical experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Greets and rooms patients for their appointments; takes vital signs and blood glucose as deemed necessary by nursing.
  • Assists nurses in performance of wound care as needed.
  • Assists in the admission process.
  • Reports pertinent observations, changes, and reactions regarding patients to the appropriate person.
  • Performs clerical duties related to the coordination of the unit and patient care, such as tracking work orders and assisting the office coordinator.
  • Answers the phone and interacts with ancillary departments.
  • Assists in transferring patients to/from the entrance of the hospital.
  • Effectively utilizes Meditech electronic health record and Wound Expert EMR.
  • Accurately collects and enters patient information.
  • Focuses on patient safety through fall prevention.
  • Is cognizant of and addresses patient’s level of comfort.
  • Expresses concern and understanding regarding patient and family satisfaction.
  • Maintains unit and nursing station supplies, including completion of requisitions on time to ensure proper level of stock.
  • Responsible for inventory and restocking of direct and indirect care items in all nursing units and patient rooms.
  • Maintains standards of nursing care within the guidelines of the nursing department by demonstrating knowledge of standards of nursing care when implementing the plan of care.
  • Follows established charge procedure for patient charge items.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
