The Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the Emergency Department provides direct patient care and assistance based on the established plan of care and patient/family preferences. This role involves collecting and reporting patient data, supporting admission, transfer, and discharge processes, and performing technical procedures safely while documenting care accurately. The PCT collaborates with nurses to adapt care for diverse populations and cultural needs, maintains a clean and safe environment, and proactively meets patient and visitor needs. Demonstrating teamwork, flexibility, and effective communication across disciplines is essential. The position also includes participation in process improvement, adherence to safety goals, and advocating for patients.
