Sentara Norfolk General Hospital is hiring a Patient Care Technician (PCT) for the Burn Trauma unit. This is a Full-Time, Day Shift (12-hour shift) position. Hours: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM - Three 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week), with rotating weekends. The Burn Trauma unit is a 34-bed mixed Intermediate care and medical/surgical unit. It includes 17 beds for stepdown/intermediate level of care for neurosurgery, trauma, burns, and orthopedic trauma patients, who are received from the Burn/Trauma ICU and the Neurosurgical ICU. Additionally, there are 17 beds for medical/surgical level of care for neurosurgical, trauma, burns, orthopedic trauma, and bariatric weight loss patients. The Patient Care Technician provides patient care, supports daily living activities, monitors vital signs, assists with mobility and ambulation, performs phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, EKG testing, peripheral IV removal, specimen collection, and foley catheter insertion and removal. They comply with patient safety practices under the direction of the RN, observe patients' physical, mental, and emotional conditions, document accurately, and report any changes to the nurse or medical staff.
