The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for assisting in patient care, documentation, and supply management under the supervision of the charge nurse, clinical manager, and/or director. PCTs maintain unit cleanliness and organization. They may also perform office assistant duties, answer phones, address patient inquiries within their capabilities, and perform data entry. Specific roles include assisting discharged patients, coordinating discharge logistics, and connecting patients with health resources. PCTs in Labor Delivery and the Post Partum Breastfeeding Center do not provide direct patient care but handle administrative tasks related to breastpump rentals and supplies. The PCT follows all Northern Arizona Healthcare policies and procedures, performs or assists with procedures within their scope of practice, and collaborates with the interdisciplinary team. They may care for patients across all age groups. The Float/Flex Pool PCT may be assigned to any unit, change departments during a shift, or act as a Patient Safety Attendant, requiring specific documentation. Call is required for the Float/Flex Pool PCT. This position is on-site only.
