About The Position

Under the supervision of licensed nursing personnel, the Patient Care Technician I delivers direct patient care, including obtaining vital signs, assessing surgical dressings, assisting with activities of daily living, performing phlebotomy, and collecting specimen samples. This position entails monitoring and accurately reporting patient status to identify care needs, collaborating effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team, and ensuring patient safety and comfort. Additional responsibilities include supporting patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, maintaining a clean and safe patient environment, providing wound care and managing orthopedic devices, monitoring dietary intake and output, responding promptly to patient alarms, and strictly adhering to established safety protocols. The role demands attentiveness, proper use of safe body mechanics, and active participation in initiatives aimed at optimizing patient outcomes and operational flow, along with performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current Maryland state certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to foster effective interpersonal relationships and collaborate within a team.
  • Capacity to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in high-pressure environments.
  • Proficiency in computer systems.
  • Precise blood glucose testing and documentation abilities.
  • Competence to perform delegated nursing tasks with respect and sensitivity to patients’ age, culture, ethnicity, spirituality, and individual needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous direct patient care experience within a healthcare setting is preferred.
