About The Position

Baystate Health is hiring Patient Care Technicians / Health Unit Coordinators for the Med/Surg units at Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield, Massachusetts. This combined role provides hands-on patient care along with unit coordination and administrative support. The position supports patients and healthcare teams and contributes to the daily operations of the nursing unit. Current and upcoming opportunities are available with varying schedules. The hospital is an 89-bed community hospital serving Franklin County, the North Quabbin region, and surrounding communities.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED (also listed as GED or HiSET).
• Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR certification through the American Heart Association.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
• Ability to maintain professionalism in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous patient care experience in long-term care, specialty care, or acute care.
• PCT or CNA training.
• Previous unit coordination, administrative, or hospital experience.
• Familiarity with phlebotomy, EKGs, or other clinical support tasks.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate patient care, assisting with daily activities, mobility, hygiene, and comfort.
• Monitor and document vital signs, intake/output, and changes in patient condition.
• Assist with patient safety, treatments, procedures, specimen collection, phlebotomy, and EKGs as trained and authorized.
• Support unit operations through communication, coordination, and administrative tasks.
• Collaborate with nurses, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, high-quality care.
