About The Position

MercyOne is seeking a Patient Care Technician Assistant - PeriOp to support professional clinical staff by providing direct patient care and performing studies and tests as assigned by a physician or RN. Duties may vary by shift or unit. The role serves patients from neonates through geriatric adults.

The schedule is Monday through Friday, 3 to 5 days per week, with 8-, 10-, and 12-hour shifts available. Start times are flexible between 5:45 a.m. and 9:00 a.m., and end times range from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Obtain Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association within six weeks of hire.
• Provide proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to the population served within three months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist operating room staff with positioning and moving patients.
• Locate, move, and set up equipment and supplies; prepare rooms and open sterile supplies.
• Assist with patient transport when appropriate.
• Order supplies and ensure their availability as assigned.
• Perform assigned tasks to maintain a clean and orderly department.
• Communicate appropriately with staff, physicians, patients, and families.
• Obtain and return X-rays.
• Deliver specimens to the laboratory and obtain blood from the Blood Bank.
• Comply with OSHA, JCAHO, and other applicable guidelines and policies.
• Set up the trauma room.
• Perform sterilization and monitoring tests.
• Pull and use preference cards.
