Requirements
- Completion of nursing assistant program, or EMT program, or completion of first block of nursing program, upon hire
- Emergency Medical Technician: AZ, upon hire
- Certified Nursing Assistant: AZ, upon hire
- Basic Life Support - CPR, upon hire

Responsibilities
- Performs patient related care tasks (direct care, bathing, oral care, feeding).
- Assists patients with activities of daily living and provides direct patient care under supervision of Nurse.
- Obtains and records patient vital signs.
- Monitors and records daily intake and output.
- Obtains specimens, including non-invasive body fluids and blood specimens.
- Monitors and performs actions to decrease patient length of stay including but not limited to: use of computerized Bed Tracking System, performing timely designated discharge duties, and communicating discharge information to appropriate staff.
- Assists Physician/Nurse with diagnostic tests, clinical procedures, and other tasks as requested.
- Communicates patient needs and observed/reported changes in patient condition to supervising Nurse or Physician.
- Documents all interactions in patient's medical record.
- May assist nursing in the retrieval and delivering of medications per the unit standard.
- Assists the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requested.
- Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies.
- Assists in patient/equipment preparation.
- Performs follow-up actions as directed.
- Documents clinically relevant findings in the patient's record according to hospital protocols.
- Prepares patients for transportation to other departments/areas.
