About The Position
The Patient Care Technician performs various duties under a licensed nurse's supervision. This role helps deliver patient care and meet family needs, following the care plan while considering the patient's age and development stage. It is a rewarding job that can make a positive impact on people’s lives daily. The position offers ongoing training from day one to help individuals be successful, and each day provides variety in caring for patients with various illnesses and treatment plans using different skills. Being a PCT can also lead to other careers within Baylor Scott and White, such as Monitor Techs or ED Techs, and provides great experience for those aspiring to become Registered Nurses. Clear communication with patients and staff, both verbally and in writing, a positive attitude, and the ability to work with other healthcare professionals are key to better patient care.
Requirements
- H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
- Less than 1 Year of Experience
- Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
Responsibilities
- Collect and record patient data, record vital signs and help patients with activities of daily living (ADL).
- Answer call lights and complete patient rounds.
- Help with completing/maintaining files and forms for admission, transfer, and discharges.
- Take care of patient personal hygiene and help with patient clean up.
- Comply with Baylor Scott and White policies and procedures.
