About The Position

The Patient Care Tech provides direct patient care to adult and geriatric populations under the guidance and direction of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include patient hygiene, mobility assistance, vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, and housekeeping and cleaning duties to maintain a safe, clean environment. This is a full-time, night-shift position at Anderson Hospital in Maryville, Illinois, scheduled for 72 hours. The listed pay range is $15.75–$24.50 per hour.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
BLS certification required.

Nice To Haves

Current Nurse Assistant certification by the State of Illinois, documentation of previous Nurse Assistant certification within the past 5 years, and/or documentation of on-the-job training in a patient care setting equivalent to nurse assistant training is preferred.
Long-term care, rehabilitation, and/or medical-surgical care experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Admit, discharge, and transfer patients and complete the appropriate forms.
Provide for patient hygiene.
Provide for patients’ food and fluid needs.
Assist with patient mobility.
Obtain and record vital signs.
Maintain a safe environment of care.
Provide appropriate pressure ulcer prevention.
Perform finger-stick blood glucose monitoring under the direction of the RN.
Complete documentation accurately and in a timely manner according to hospital policies and procedures.
Provide safe, skillful, accurate, and efficient age-appropriate and population-specific care, primarily to adult and geriatric populations.
Support patients’ rights and responsibilities, including respect for cultural, ethical, and religious diversity.
Adhere to standard precautions and infection control standards.
Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties to maintain a safe, clean environment.
