About The Position

The Patient Care Tech supports patient care in the Cardiac Services | Cardiovascular department at Ascension St. Vincent Heart Center in Carmel, Indiana. The position is part time, working two 12-hour night shifts per week from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with every third weekend in the rotation.

The role assists patients with movement, placement, personal care, and activities of daily living. The technician reports and documents changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions and helps keep patient rooms orderly and medical equipment maintained.

Requirements

• BLS Provider certification obtained within 30 days of hire or job transfer; American Heart Association or American Red Cross certification is accepted.
• High school diploma equivalency or one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
• Required professional licensure or certification may be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Nice To Haves

• Nurse Aide credential.
• At least one year of patient care experience in a high-acuity inpatient hospital.

Responsibilities

• Aid with movement and placement of patients.
• Assist patients with personal care and activities of daily living.
• Report findings or changes in patients’ physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
• Document necessary records.
• Keep patient rooms clean and orderly and maintain medical equipment.
