About The Position
Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, a 198-bed non-profit facility, is seeking a Patient Care Technician (PCT) to join their team. The PCT will deliver essential direct patient care under the supervision of the clinical team, leveraging knowledge of basic patient care principles and medical terminology. Daily duties include assisting patients with personal care, mobility, and feeding, monitoring vital signs, documenting observations, and maintaining a therapeutic and organized patient environment. The PCT will also collaborate with the nursing team to prepare patients for procedures or transport. Success in this role requires a passion for patient well-being, diligence, keen observational skills, and a proactive approach to continuous learning and professional development.
Requirements
- Completion of nursing assistant or EMT program, or completion of first block of nursing program
- Certified Nursing Assistant: AZ or Emergency Medical Technician: AZ
- American Heart Association BLS
Responsibilities
- Assists the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requested
- Assists with patient admission, discharge and transfer
- Assists in patient/equipment preparation, and retrieves necessary equipment and supplies
- Documents clinically relevant findings in the patient's record according to hospital protocols
- Prepares patients for transportation to other departments/areas when STAT or as necessary
