About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) in Inpatient Rehab collaborates with nurses and doctors to provide personalized care for patients. They are responsible for checking vital signs, assisting patients with daily living activities such as moving, dressing, and eating, collecting samples, and reporting any changes in patient condition to a nurse. The PCT works under the supervision of a nurse and may also assist with paperwork and other tasks as a Unit Clerk (PCT/HUC), contributing to the smooth operation of the hospital and optimal patient care. PCTs are essential members of the healthcare team, aiding in patient recovery and well-being.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • BLS CPR certificate (can be obtained during orientation).
  • Finished STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.
  • Have helped care for patients in the past 5 years (like taking their temperature, bathing them, or helping them use the restroom).
  • Are in nursing school and have finished one clinical rotation.
  • Ability to handle doing many things simultaneously, even when people interrupt you, and still be nice.
  • Know how to use a computer.
  • Good at organizing things.
  • Ability to talk and listen well to others.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital experience.

Responsibilities

  • Check vital signs, such as temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.
  • Help patients move around, get dressed, and eat.
  • Collect samples like urine.
  • Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse.
  • Walks, ADLs, Weighing Patients; Vitals
  • Assist with paperwork and other tasks that keep the hospital running smoothly.
