About The Position

The Patient Care Tech in the Emergency Department works the night shift and is responsible for providing direct patient care. This role requires significant attention, including mental, visual, and auditory focus, along with manual dexterity for sustained periods. The position involves assessing patients, reading and recording charts, and communicating effectively with patients and the healthcare team, even when masks are worn. There is a potential for exposure to infectious materials and hazardous conditions. The role demands the ability to work under pressure, utilize appropriate patient movement equipment for transfers, and assist with lifting up to 50 pounds in urgent situations. Wearing appropriate PPE, including an N95 mask/PAPR when applicable, is required. The job involves continuous sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting throughout the shift.

Requirements

  • Eligible to work in the US
  • Current BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider issued by American Heart Association (if not current or without certification, required to be obtained within the employee’s introductory period - within 90 days of hire date)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including teamwork, ability to prioritize, ability to receive and follow through on directions.
  • Basic Computer skills

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of an accredited certified nursing assistant (CNA) training course
  • Completion of at least one nursing clinical rotation in medical or surgical nursing

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients and read/record patient charts.
  • Converse with patients, members of the healthcare team, and coworkers.
