About The Position

The Intermediate Cardiac Unit is a fast-paced environment seeking skilled Patient Care Technicians (PCTs). This role involves providing assistance to patients according to their plan of care, collecting patient data, and reporting significant findings to the nurse. The PCT will also assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges, and provide and revise patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences. Technical procedures will be performed safely and proficiently, with a focus on taking action to reduce or eliminate patient risk. The role includes entering orders into computer or manual systems, documenting accurately, and adapting care to reflect the patient population and incorporate cultural/religious needs and beliefs in collaboration with the nurse. Maintaining a clean and safe patient environment, anticipating patient/family needs, and rounding as appropriate are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
CLIAFE - Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required, if applicable.
Current TX CNA or PCT training with NHA, NAHP or NCCT or an accredited community college program or a THR approved program or Current EMT for TX or Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) or 1 year of applicable PCT experience in lieu of an active and approved certification or Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program.
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
CPI - Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training within 60 days of hire required.

Previous wound care experience is preferred.
