Patient Care Tech (PCT) / Heart and Vascular Unit
About The Position
The Patient Care Tech (PCT) on the Heart and Vascular SE6 unit collaborates with nurses and doctors to provide personalized care for patients. They are essential members of the healthcare team, assisting patients with daily living activities, monitoring vital signs, collecting samples, and reporting changes in patient condition to nurses. In addition to direct patient care, the PCT may also assist with paperwork and other tasks that contribute to the smooth operation of the hospital and optimal patient care. This role is crucial in helping patients feel better and recover their health.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- BLS CPR certificate (training can be provided during orientation).
- Successful completion of one of the following: Completion of previous STNA or CNA training or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training.
- Successful completion of one of the following: Direct patient care experience within the last five years: Performing fundamental skills of vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure) & direct patient care activities ie. Bathing, turning/positioning, toileting.
- Successful completion of one of the following: Currently enrolled in nursing school and have completed at least one clinical rotation.
- Ability to handle multitasking and interruptions while remaining pleasant.
- Computer proficiency.
- Good organizational skills.
- Effective communication and listening skills.
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital experience.
Responsibilities
- Check vital signs, including temperature, heart rate, and breathing rate.
- Assist patients with mobility, dressing, and eating.
- Collect samples like urine.
- Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse.
- Perform Walks, ADLs, Weighing Patients; Vitals.
- Assist with paperwork and other tasks that keep the hospital running smoothly.
