About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) position is for the PACU Unit. This fast-paced unit is looking for top skilled PCTs. The role provides assistance to patients according to the plan of care, collects patient data, and reports significant findings to the nurse. The PCT assists in admissions, transfers, and discharges, and provides and revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences. The role also involves performing technical procedures safely and proficiently, taking action to reduce or eliminate patient risk, and entering orders into the computer or manual system if applicable. Documentation is accurate and appropriate. In collaboration with the nurse, the PCT adapts care to reflect the patient population, incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs into care delivery, keeps the patient environment clean, and maintains a safe environment. The PCT anticipates patient/family and visitor needs and takes action to meet them, rounding as appropriate.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED)
  • CLIAFE - Must comply with CLIA regulations regarding foreign education equivalency required, if applicable.
  • Current TX CNA or PCT training with NHA, NAHP or NCCT or an accredited community college program or a THR approved program or Current EMT for TX or Military experience with medical training equivalent (Equivalent to EMT-B) or 1 year of applicable PCT experience in lieu of an active and approved certification or Nursing student who has completed fundamentals or foreign nurse degree program.
  • BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • CPI - Crisis Prevention and Intervention Training within 60 days of hire required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous wound care experience is preferred.
