About The Position
Landmark Hospital of Columbia is expanding and seeking compassionate Patient Care Techs (PCTs) committed to delivering great patient care to hospital patients. This role offers a great opportunity to work alongside nursing, respiratory, and rehabilitation teams in an acute-care setting. Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Current BLS
- 1-3 years of related experience
Nice To Haves
- Certification (Certified Nursing Assistant for State of Missouri) Preferred
- Long-term acute care/hospital experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Perform basic care skills under the direct supervision of the licensed nurse including vital signs, intake/output measurement, catheter care, CPR, restraint management, bowel and bladder training, and documentation of care in the patient record.
- Assist the licensed nurse in meeting the patient's needs in the areas of personal hygiene, personal care, skin care, grooming, rest, activity, nourishment, body mechanics, elimination, and psychosocial support.
- Complete all ordered vital signs and blood glucose checks.
- Perform and document routine safety checks for all assigned patients.
- Empty Foley catheters and ostomies at least once prior to the end of shift.
- Accurately document all patient intake and output.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to all patient requests.
- Turn and reposition patients at least every 2 hours.
- Provide bed baths and assist with all personal hygiene needs, including toileting.
- Deliver meal trays to patients.
- Document meal intake for each patient.
- Return remaining trays to the dirty utility room.
- Remove any full or malodorous trash from patient rooms promptly.
- Collect and remove soiled linens as needed.
- Handoff report to the oncoming shift must be completed before leaving.
- The shift begins promptly at 6:00 AM.
- Remain in a location where call lights are visible.
