About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT), under the direction of a registered nurse, provides direct patient care while considering patients’ age-specific, developmental, cultural, and spiritual needs. The PCT helps establish and maintain a clean, safe environment that supports patient and family wellbeing and relationship-based care. This role is in the Nursing Resource Pool/Float Pool at Trinity Health Ann Arbor and offers scheduling flexibility, with floating limited to Trinity Health Arbor. Focused orientation and training are provided on equipment, processes, and procedures.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least one year of previous direct care experience in acute or long-term care, or successful completion of a CENA or PCT course.
Student nurses must have completed the nursing fundamentals class of a BSN program.
Every other weekend and four holidays per year, including at least one winter holiday, are required for full-time and part-time team members.

Responsibilities

Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, showering, toileting, positioning, turning, transferring, and ambulation using assistive devices.
Assist patients with feeding and menu selection.
Collect and send specimens, including blood and blood cultures.
Insert and remove peripheral IV catheters.
Record patient information and required data in appropriate areas to meet documentation requirements.
Help maintain a clean, safe environment conducive to patient and family wellbeing.
