About The Position

The Ortho Unit is a 32-bed orthopedic floor that also accommodates med/surg and cardiac overflow. It is a center of excellence with certifications in Hip Replacement, Knee Replacements, and Hip Fractures. The Patient Care Tech (PCT) provides basic patient care, assists in maintaining a safe and clean environment, records vital signs, provides general nursing care and routine treatments, facilitates patient processing, offers clerical receptionist support, and provides coordinating support. Additional duties may be performed based on the specific needs of the department.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent GED
• Certification as a nursing assistant or 6 months of recent experience as a nursing assistant
• Six (6) months of recent experience as a nursing assistant
• Current certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant or one clinical semester of nursing school or successful completion of an acute care nurse aide course; or six (6) months previous experience in a healthcare position can be substituted for the experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) training or re-training is required during orientation prior to providing patient care
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained through re-training for duration of employment
