About The Position

This is a full-time night position for a Patient Care Tech (PCT) on the 3 South Med/Surg unit. The role involves performing basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision, assisting patients with ambulation and personal care, reporting changes in patient condition, maintaining patient rooms and equipment, performing technical patient care duties, and obtaining/recording vital signs. The position is located at UAB St Vincent's Birmingham and requires working three 12-hour shifts per week from 7pm to 7am.

Requirements

BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Responsibilities

Perform basic clinical and non-clinical patient care activities under supervision.
Assist patients with ambulation as necessary. This may include helping them to a recliner in their room, walk to the bathroom or down the hall. Assist dismissed patients in getting safely to their vehicles.
Assist patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living.
Reports findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff. Documents necessary records.
Keeps patient rooms clean, orderly, and maintains medical equipment.
Performs certain technical patient care duties in the hospital as directed by the staff nurse such as oxygen setup, foley catheter care, pulse oximetry setup, specimen collection and EKGs.
Obtain and record vitals, weight, and inputs and outputs.
Perform other duties as assigned.
