Patient Care Tech - Ear, Nose & Throat Clinic
About The Position
The Patient Care Technician (PCT) performs basic patient care services and supports activities within ambulatory services. Patient Care Technicians are multi-skilled to provide expanded services under the direct supervision of a licensed clinical professional. Our Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) clinic specializes in providing comprehensive care for patients of all ages with conditions related to the head and neck. We treat a wide range of concerns including hearing and balance disorders, sinus and allergy issues, voice and swallowing problems, and other complex ENT conditions. Duties of this role include preparing exam rooms, taking vital signs, assist with ENT procedures, and supporting physicians, nurses and audiologists in daily workflow.
Requirements
- High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of six months’ experience preferred.
- Experience in a clinic setting preferred.
- Knowledge of healthcare, anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and medical equipment/supplies preferred.
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred.
- Obtain and subsequently maintain required department specific competencies and certifications.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers required or within the first 60 days of employment.
- If working in North Dakota (ND) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be registered as a Nursing Assistant (NA) through the North Dakota Department of Health within four months from the date of initial employment.

Responsibilities
- Perform basic patient care services and support activities within ambulatory services.
- Provide expanded services under the direct supervision of a licensed clinical professional.
- Prepare exam rooms.
- Take vital signs.
- Assist with ENT procedures.
- Support physicians, nurses, and audiologists in daily workflow.
- Measure height, weight, blood pressure, visual acuity, and perform color vision screening.
- Conduct drug screens and point-of-care urinalysis.
- Perform reception/clerical tasks.
- Utilize appropriate age-related patient care and cultural diversity knowledge for patients from adolescence through geriatrics.
- Prepare patient treatment areas for use.
- Prepare and clean medical equipment.
- Dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy.
- Clean and maintain patient care areas or treatment rooms.
- Monitor stock levels of medical inventory and restock or reorder as needed.
- Work patient registries and identify opportunities to improve patient care.
