About The Position

The Patient Care Technician works in the Cardiac Stepdown unit at Hillcrest Hospital South in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Under the direction of a registered nurse and the unit manager, the Cross Trained Assistant performs CNA and clerical duties. The role supports patient care, patient arrivals and discharges, unit reception, supply management, and upkeep of nursing stations.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and before providing direct patient care.

Nice To Haves

Two years of experience in acute or long-term care.
Demonstrated proficiency in phlebotomy.
Completion of an approved CNA, PCT, or paramedic certification, or current enrollment in nursing school.

Responsibilities

Perform CNA duties and clerical duties under the direction of a registered nurse and the unit manager.
Obtain patient vital signs, assist with patient transport, pass meal trays, provide hygiene care, and answer inquiries within the scope of practice.
Receive patients at the desk, escort them to the appropriate room, provide initial instructions, and alert nursing staff to patient arrivals.
Assist with transporting discharged patients and answer inquiries within the scope of practice.
Act as the unit receptionist as needed, assign patients to rooms on the board, and pull and prepare charts.
Order and monitor selected supplies, including office supplies, nutritional supplements, and forms, and retrieve charts.
Assist with stocking unit supplies and keeping nursing stations clean and organized.
