The Patient Care Tech (PCT) will provide assistance to patients according to the plan of care, collect patient data, and report significant findings to the nurse. This role assists with admissions, transfers, and discharges, and revises patient activities of daily living based on patient/family preferences. The PCT performs technical procedures safely and proficiently, takes action to reduce or eliminate patient risk, and enters orders into the computer or manual system if applicable. Documentation is accurate and appropriate. In collaboration with the nurse, the PCT adapts care to reflect the patient population, incorporates cultural/religious needs and beliefs into care delivery, and keeps the patient environment clean and safe. The PCT anticipates patient/family and visitor needs, takes action to meet those needs, and rounds as appropriate. This position is part of the Medical Surgical/Telemetry, 5A department at Texas Health Plano, a 386-bed, full-service hospital serving the communities of Plano, Frisco, Carrollton, Addison, Richardson, and McKinney. Texas Health Plano is a Level II Trauma Facility, has Level IV NICU and Level IV Maternal Facility designations, is a DNV-certified Comprehensive Stroke Center, and a Primary Heart Attack Center accredited by The Joint Commission in Hip and Knee Replacement. It is a four-time Magnet-designated hospital and home to the DFW area's only AACN Beacon Gold adult intensive care unit.
