The Patient Care Technician provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the RN or licensed independent practitioner. This role involves monitoring patients' conditions, providing updates to the healthcare team, and delivering direct and indirect care to meet patients' comfort, personal hygiene, and safety needs. The technician is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and stocked clinical environment, ensuring quality and safe patient care outcomes. They contribute to the patient experience by identifying patients, observing safety goals, and reporting any changes or incidents to the appropriate personnel. The role also includes obtaining and recording patient information, collecting specimens, attending mandatory training, and adhering to patient safety initiatives. Establishing and maintaining courteous and effective rapport with patients, visitors, and colleagues is essential.
