About The Position

The Patient Care Tech (PCT) in Inpatient Rehab collaborates with nurses and doctors to provide personalized care for patients. They are essential members of the healthcare team who help patients feel better and recover their health. The PCT works under the supervision of a nurse. In addition to direct patient care, the PCT may also assist with paperwork and other tasks that keep the hospital running smoothly, similar to a Hospital Unit Clerk (HUC).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • BLS CPR certificate (can be obtained during orientation).
  • One of the following: completed STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training; experience caring for patients in the past 5 years (e.g., taking temperature, bathing, assisting with restroom use); or currently in nursing school with at least one clinical rotation completed.
  • Ability to multitask and remain pleasant despite interruptions.
  • Computer proficiency.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and listening skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital experience.

Responsibilities

  • Check vital signs, such as temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.
  • Help patients move around, get dressed, and eat.
  • Collect samples like urine.
  • Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse.
  • Perform tasks such as walking patients, assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), and weighing patients.
  • Assist with paperwork and other administrative tasks.
