About The Position

This role involves collaborating with nurses and doctors to provide personalized care for patients in the Inpatient Rehab department. The Patient Care Tech/Health Unit Coordinator (PCT/HUC) performs various clinical and clerical tasks to ensure smooth unit operations and optimal patient care. PCTs are essential members of the healthcare team, assisting patients in their recovery. The PCT is a multi-skilled individual capable of performing technical and clinical tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, identifying and reporting abnormal findings. The HUC component involves coordinating communication, data entry, stocking supplies, providing clerical assistance to medical staff, and guiding patients and families, all under the oversight of the RN.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• BLS CPR certificate (can be obtained during orientation).
• Completed STNA, CNA, or Patient Care Technician/Assistant training OR have helped care for patients in the past 5 years (e.g., taking temperature, bathing, assisting with restroom use) OR are in nursing school and have completed one clinical rotation.
• Ability to handle multitasking and interruptions while remaining pleasant.
• Computer proficiency.
• Good organizational skills.
• Effective communication and listening skills.

• Previous hospital work experience.

Responsibilities

• Check vital signs, such as temperature, heartbeat, and breathing.
• Help patients move around, get dressed, and eat.
• Collect samples like urine.
• Report any changes in a patient's condition to a nurse.
• Perform tasks such as walking patients, assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), and weighing patients.
• Assist with paperwork and other tasks that keep the hospital running smoothly.
• Coordinate communication, data entry, and stocking/ordering of supplies.
• Provide clerical assistance to physicians and staff.
• Provide direction and guidance to patients, families, and visitors while promoting a positive patient experience.
