About The Position

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) in the Emergency Room (ER) plays a critical role in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients during urgent and often stressful situations. This position involves assisting medical staff by performing essential clinical and non-clinical tasks that support patient assessment, treatment, and comfort. The PCT ensures that patients' basic needs are met promptly while maintaining a safe and clean environment in the ER. By closely monitoring patients and communicating effectively with nurses and physicians, the PCT contributes to efficient patient flow and positive health outcomes. Ultimately, this role is vital in providing timely, empathetic care that supports the overall emergency medical team and enhances patient experience in a fast-paced setting.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Have basic understanding of medical terminology
• Ability to work in a fast paced environment
• Ability to understand and carry out directions given
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in an emergency or acute care environment.
• Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) or equivalent.
• Strong familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.

Responsibilities

• Assist nursing staff with patient care activities including vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, and basic clinical procedures.
• Provide direct patient support such as bathing, feeding, and mobility assistance to ensure comfort and dignity.
• Prepare and maintain patient rooms and equipment to meet infection control and safety standards.
• Observe and report changes in patient condition promptly to nursing staff to facilitate timely interventions.
• Support emergency department operations by transporting patients, restocking supplies, and assisting with patient admissions and discharges.
