The Patient Care Technician functions as a clinical support partner, assisting the patient care team by performing various tasks and procedures as instructed by a licensed professional. Additionally, the Patient Care Technician may assume the responsibilities of a Health Unit Coordinator. This is a FULL-TIME NIGHTS position. The Medical Endocrine unit is a fast-paced unit with 32 beds. Our unit has the endocrine tag due to our units specific DKA protocol used to prevent patients from acquiring an ICU admission. Our diabetic patients make up a small portion of our overall patient population. Other diagnosis we treat include, viral/bacterial infections, electrolyte imbalance, gastroenterology, pulmonary, cardiac, and renal/liver failure. We admit patients from the emergency room, ICU transfers, intra facility transfers, and occasionally direct admits from primary care providers and clinics. On T8 Med/Endo you will gain experience caring for a variety of patients with different diagnosis and develop critical thinking skills.
