About The Position

Assists patients with healthcare needs who are ill or recovering from surgery or disease. This position is a Teamsters position, so union dues/membership is mandatory. The primary floor will be 3rd, but they will float to 5M as necessary, and occasionally to the ED as a sitter. The hourly range for this position is $17.50 - $26.25, with the actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. Intermountain Health is an equal opportunity employer. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Current Montana C.N.A. certification required upon hire
  • BLS required within 60 days of hire
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Regular attendance to perform work on site during regularly scheduled business hours or scheduled shifts is required.

Responsibilities

  • Promotes mission, vision and values of SCL Health, and abides by service behavior standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Carries out care as delegated by the RN.
  • Receives report from RN daily by 0830 or 2030 to coordinate plan of care related to ADL's. Documents all ADL's for each patient every shift.
  • Answers lights, or intercom system to determine patients' needs.
  • Serves and collects food trays and feeds patients requiring help.
  • Transports patients or assists patients to walk.
  • Runs errands, and direct visitors.
  • Participates in admission/discharge activities.
  • Accurately documents the care provided to patient during shift.
  • Adheres to infection prevention strategies.
  • Stock rooms with supplies. Stock isolation racks with supplies.
  • Responsible to perform purposeful rounding.
  • Updates "care boards" to include name, plan related to ADL/s, date.
  • Observes patient behavior and maintains patient safety.
  • Maintains an uninterrupted line of sight with the patient and will be required to assist the patient in completion of daily personal care.
  • Obtain report from the assigned nurse or from the current sitter. Remain with the patient until relieved for breaks, meals and shift change.
  • Accompany patient to other departments when patient is scheduled for tests/treatments.
  • Notify the patient’s assigned nurse of any change in patient’s mental status or condition immediately. Notify the nurse of any safety concerns.
