About The Position

Provides administrative leadership and oversight for operations within assigned service areas, including staffing, patient assignments, patient throughput, and resource pool management. Supervises and coordinates departmental activities in accordance with organizational mission, vision, policies, and strategic objectives. Assumes responsibility for the planning, direction, control, and evaluation of programs and services within assigned areas. Ensures the effective utilization of personnel, financial, and operational resources to support safe, high-quality patient care. Directs the day-to-day operations of assigned departments and service areas. Supervises licensed and unlicensed personnel and ensures appropriate delegation of responsibilities during periods of absence. Establishes departmental goals aligned with the organization's mission, vision, values, and strategic plan. Maintains accountability for decisions that impact departmental performance and organizational outcomes. Creates an environment that promotes staff engagement, professional growth, innovation, and sound clinical judgment. Promotes effective interdisciplinary communication and collaboration to ensure coordinated patient care. Conducts ongoing assessments of the physical, operational, and cultural environment to ensure alignment with organizational goals, regulatory requirements, and standards of care. Ensures compliance with accreditation, regulatory, and quality standards. Oversees workforce planning activities, including staffing, scheduling, recruitment, retention, employee development, and succession planning. Supports the design and implementation of care delivery models that address community needs, staff competencies, available resources, and desired patient outcomes. Participates in organizational policy development and strategic initiatives. Serves as a clinical and operational role model, demonstrating leadership and competence in managing clinical emergencies and complex situations. Collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary teams to support efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective patient care. Leads quality improvement, patient experience, patient safety, and operational excellence initiatives. Fosters a patient- and family-centered care environment that recognizes the importance of family, caregivers, and support systems. Oversees census management, patient placement, staffing optimization, and bed flow operations. Maintains accountability for patient safety programs and actively participates in organizational safety initiatives. Communicates effectively with diverse audiences through both written and verbal methods. Maintains visibility and accessibility to staff, providing leadership, mentorship, coaching, and support. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the State of Texas.
  • Current CPR, ACLS, and PALS certifications.
  • Minimum of four years of leadership experience in an acute care healthcare setting; prior experience at United Regional preferred.
  • Working knowledge of hospital operations and organizational structure.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications and healthcare technology systems.
  • Leadership style that fosters employee growth, engagement, accountability, innovation, and professional development.
  • Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care and operational management programs.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and make sound decisions based on available data.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in nursing, healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field preferred; candidates actively pursuing a master's degree will be considered.
  • Prior experience at United Regional preferred.
