About The Position

The Patient Care Representative works in a customer service capacity, providing administrative and clerical support to patients and customers in a medical setting. The role is in the Spine & Brain Surgeons department at the Providence Medical Building in Southfield, Michigan. The listed schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, for 40 hours per week; the job is identified as contingent.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalency, or one year of applicable cumulative job-specific experience.
• Required professional licensure or certification may be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and visitors, check patients in and out, obtain necessary documentation, and verify and enter demographic information.
• Obtain and verify insurance authorizations and precertifications.
• Complete medical record release requests and schedule and confirm patient appointments.
• Enter, review, and submit charges for patient procedures and services daily.
• Collect co-payments and reconcile daily reports and deposits for accuracy.
• Provide general office and clerical support to the assigned area.
